Sm\u00e5landsstenar<\/h1>\n

While Sm\u00e5landsstenar is a pleasant town with a busy centre, it is also close to the H\u00f6rsj\u00f6 area with bathing, camping, illuminated jogging trail, outdoor gym and nature. There are also many manufacturing companies in town, and trains leave Sm\u00e5landsstenar for the coast or further inland.<\/p>\n

Housing<\/h2>\n

There are plenty of residential districts of varying character in Sm\u00e5landsstenar. The majority of the houses were built between the 60s and the 80s, but there are also more modern areas and vacant building lots for people wishing to build their own homes. Many housing areas are surrounded by green space and have limited through traffic, which makes for a more pleasant living environment.\u00a0Sm\u00e5landsstenar also has rental apartments and housing cooperatives.<\/p>\n

Leisure<\/h2>\n

Sm\u00e5landsstenar offers many leisure activities, both for groups and for the individual. There are sports halls, football fields, illuminated jogging trails, an athletics arena and gym and a wealth of associations with various activities. The library attracts readers of different ages and there are playgrounds for children of all ages at several places in the community.\u00a0There is a skate park in the centre of Sm\u00e5landsstenar.<\/p>\n

The Nissan trail is an 8 km footpath that runs along the Nissan’s left bank from \u00c5g\u00e5rdsfors outside Sm\u00e5landsstenar in the north to Skeppshult in the south. At Svenshult there is a rest area with a fire pit and benches.<\/p>\n

Schools<\/h2>\n

Sm\u00e5landsstenar has a number of preschools for children in the ages 1 to 5; there are two primary schools and a senior high school.<\/p>\n

Communications<\/h2>\n

There are excellent bus and train connections. Trains to the coast take one hour.\u00a0Buses leave for Skeppshult or Gislaved and continue to Gnosj\u00f6 and V\u00e4rnamo. In addition to cycle tracks within the community there an asphalted cycle track to Skeppshult.<\/p>\n

Tourism<\/h2>\n

The H\u00f6rsj\u00f6 area is popular with residents and visitors alike. In addition to camping, there is mini golf, an outdoor gym, an outdoor pool and fishing.<\/p>\n

The local history museum is located in the north-western part of Sm\u00e5landsstenar, around 1.5 km from the town centre. It is one of the oldest rule community centres in the country and it includes seven re-sited buildings. It is also home to Domarringarna (stone circles), one of the country’s most renowned ancient monuments. It is also a habitat for the “Immortelle”, a rare flower.<\/p>\n

The cultivated landscape in Villstad Kyrkby is designated as a place of national interest. There are relics from different periods in our history including ancient fields, burial sites and buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is also a conservation area rich in fauna and flora.<\/p>\n
